About the Role
As a Solicitor or Associate, you will provide professional legal advice and support to our clients. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious legal professional with an interest in Dust Diseases matters to take the next step in their career with a successful and forward‑thinking law firm.
Responsibilities
- Critically analysing factual information, including complex medicolegal evidence, to provide high quality legal advice for clients within strict, specified timeframes, in line with service standards and with the sense of urgency that characterises the Dust Diseases jurisdiction.
- Building and maintaining effective professional relationships with clients, maintaining open dialogue and providing timely updates on developments, and contributing to the firm’s reputation and key relationships.
- Working diligently to resolve matters on the best possible terms, including those which proceed to mediation, with a view to achieving timely and cost‑effective outcomes for clients.
- For Associates, coaching, mentoring and developing more junior lawyers and support staff.
- Maintaining an advanced, current knowledge of the relevant law, including relevant legislative changes and significant decisions.
Qualifications
- Hold a recognised qualification in law and hold a current Practicing Certificate in NSW.
Required Skills
- Have experience and (for Associates) demonstrated expertise in Personal Injury, Workers Compensation and/or Dust Diseases matters, with a fluent current knowledge of the relevant law.
- Have excellent analytical, drafting and communication (verbal and written skills), with superior attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a high level of personal organisation and excellent time management skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
- Have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to clients, employers, insurers and peers, including support staff, and work effectively in a team.
- Have experience and capacity to effectively coach, mentor and develop more junior lawyers and support staff.
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation and personal commitment to continuous learning and development.
