Your Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and hands‐on Grounds and Maintenance Worker to join our team on a full‐time basis, across Stuart Lodge and Aherlkeme Development Centre (ADC) in Alice Springs. This is a dynamic role suited to someone who enjoys staying busy and takes genuine pride in keeping environments safe, functional and welcoming.
Supporting Participants and staff, you will play an important part in maintaining older properties that require consistent, practical care. As this is an on‐site position, you'll be actively involved in the day‐to‐day presentation and upkeep of both locations, working with informal subcontractors when required, and responding to maintenance requests logged across the sites. Uniform and all equipment are supplied, and the role offers variety, purpose and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Maintain grounds and outdoor areas, including mowing, edging, trimming trees and shrubs, clearing debris, and basic landscaping improvements.
* Carry out general building maintenance and minor repairs such as patching walls, painting touch‐ups, door and fixture repairs, and basic non‐licensed maintenance tasks.
* Ensure all sites are kept safe, clean and functional to support Participants, staff and visitors.
* Respond proactively to maintenance requests and carry out routine and reactive tasks as recorded in the maintenance log.
* Manage, maintain and safely store tools, equipment, chemicals and materials, ensuring asset registers are kept up to date.
* Support and coordinate access for approved trades and contractors when specialist works are required.
* Communicate effectively with Property Managers and onsite staff to prioritise tasks, manage time across both sites, and report safety or maintenance issues promptly.
Requirements for Success
* Demonstrated experience in groundskeeping, landscaping or general maintenance; formal qualifications are not required.
* Practical, hands‐on skills across a range of maintenance tasks, including gardening, basic repairs and general upkeep of older properties.
* A current driver's licence, with the ability to drive a vehicle with a trailer.
* Physically capable of performing manual and outdoor tasks, including lifting equipment and working in varied conditions.
* Knowledge of safe work practices, including the correct use and storage of tools, equipment and chemicals.
* Strong organisational and time‐management skills, with the ability to work independently across multiple sites.
* A proactive, reliable and approachable attitude, with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff, trades and subcontractors.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
Your Benefits
To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:
* Rewarding work – every day you know you're making a real difference
* Not‐for‐profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
* Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support

* Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave
* Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off
