experienced and detail-oriented Accountant
to manage our end-to-end financial operations — all from the comfort of your home.
Position Summary
The Accountant will oversee the
full suite of accounting functions
, from daily transactional processing to monthly financial reporting. This includes
accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll (for Australian employees), reconciliation of payroll run by externals in other regions, bank reconciliations, compliance, and preparation of accounts to trial balance
. You will ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all financial processes to support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (AP)
* Process supplier invoices and staff reimbursements
* Maintain supplier records and ensure timely payments
* Reconcile accounts payable ledger
Accounts Receivable (AR)
* Generate and issue customer invoices
* Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivables
* Reconcile accounts receivable ledger
Payroll
* Process end-to-end payroll for Australian employees (monthly/fortnightly)
* Ensure compliance with
Fair Work, Superannuation, and ATO
requirements
* Prepare and lodge
Single Touch Payroll (STP)
reports
Banking and Reconciliations
* Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations
* Manage cash flow and monitor account balances
General Ledger and Trial Balance
* Post and reconcile journal entries
* Maintain accurate general ledger accounts
* Prepare monthly trial balance
Financial Reporting
* Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports
* Support external advisors with year-end financials, audits, and tax filings
Compliance, GST, and Payroll Tax
* Ensure compliance with
Australian taxation laws
, including
GST, PAYG, and Payroll Tax
* Prepare and lodge
Business Activity Statements (BAS)
and
Installment Activity Statements (IAS)
* Maintain compliance with
state payroll tax obligations
and assist with reconciliations
* Monitor and apply relevant
ATO rulings and changes in legislation
affecting accounting and tax
* Support internal reviews and external audits to ensure adherence to financial and regulatory requirements
Process Improvement
* Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems
* Assist with
automation initiatives
as the company scales
Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in
Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA/CA qualification
(or working towards) preferred
* Minimum
3+ years' experience
in a similar role
* Strong knowledge of
Australian accounting standards, tax, and payroll
regulations
* Experience with
cloud-based accounting systems
(e.g., Xero, Planful)
* Proficient in
Excel
and other Microsoft Office tools
* Excellent
attention to detail, accuracy, and time management
* Self-starter with the ability to
work independently
in a remote environment
