Overview
Systems Accountant
Maitland City Council is seeking a Systems Accountant to play a key role in analysing and optimising Council's financial systems and processes.
In this role, you will act as the primary liaison between the Finance and IT teams, ensuring financial systems are aligned with business requirements while managing and optimising Council's financial systems and ERP platform. You will lead and project manage key system and process improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance compliance, strengthen internal controls, improve efficiency, and support high-quality service delivery.
As a Subject Matter Expert, you will also provide training and support to a broad range of stakeholders, offering technical advice and assisting with the resolution of financial systems issues as they arise.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will hold degree-level qualifications in Business, Commerce, Accounting, IT, or a related discipline, or possess significant relevant experience supported by appropriate training or education.
You will bring proven practical experience across a broad range of accounting functions, along with demonstrated capability in supporting, developing, and implementing process and system improvements. This includes driving automation initiatives and maximising the effective use of ERP platforms—preferably TechnologyOne.
In addition to the above, you will also have strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
