About the role
As the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader - Cancer, you will provide inspiring leadership across the Cancer pharmacy team You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, safe and patient-centred pharmacy service within the Cancer Program across inpatient and outpatient settings.
This role plays a key part in embedding Medication Management directives, policies, procedures and guidelines into everyday practice, while acting as a trusted point of contact for clinicians and service units regarding pharmacy services and advice.
Working collaboratively with other Team Leaders and in close partnership with the Deputy Directors of Pharmacy, you will support the delivery of safe, effective and cost-efficient drug therapy to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
You will lead staff training and development, including Clinical Verification of Systemic Cancer Therapies, undertake practice and performance reviews, and contribute to the development, evaluation and teaching of workplace policies and procedures.
In addition, you will undertake complex clinical and operational work including verification of chemotherapy and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to optimise pharmacotherapy for patients undergoing cancer treatment.
You will uphold Advanced Pharmacy Australia (AdPha) Standards of Practice and all legal requirements, ensuring accountability for medication management across the department.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will meet the essential minimum requirements and bring strong leadership capability, sound clinical judgement and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality pharmacy services.
Qualified and registered – Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration, with the Pharmacy Board of Australia
Experienced pharmacy leader – Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with proven leadership, supervision and service improvement capability within multidisciplinary teams
Strong communicator and mentor – Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to educate, supervise and support professional and non-professional staff
Adaptable and outcomes-focused – Highly organised, resilient and flexible, with strong problem-solving, change management and prioritisation skills in complex, fast-paced environments
