**Your new role**
- The Software Engineering Manager leads multiple scrum teams in the development, delivery and support of a range of technology solutions aligned with business objectives. Your passion for technology allows you to lead the team to develop creative solutions that align with industry best practises for development processes, UX and automation. Your strong people skills ensure that you can mentor your team to success and engage with your colleagues throughout customer to assist with product/solution ideation, development and support requirements.
- Your experience with complex product development gives you the ability to maintain a holistic view of client. Information and information technology assets, ensuring that the product/solution develop aligns with the IT strategic objectives.
- Working with the Head of Information Services and your peers in the IS leadership team, you will contribute towards developing and aligning the IT strategy with STL's goals, such as a cloud first solution model and the delivery of a first class customer experience for our colleagues.
- Provide thought leadership for the development processes, tools and standards used by the team to develop their products/solutions
- Work with the team to ensure that selected technologies are utilized in line with vendor or industry best practises
- Working with the Development team lead and the Quality Assurance team lead, develop and maintain development and test guidelines, including code reviews, branching strategies, release processes etc
- Stay abreast of industry trends and assess new products and emerging technologies for improvement of IT design and operations with a focus on Digital
**What you'll need to succeed**
Essential:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business Management or related discipline
- Significant hands-on development experience, including the management of CI/CD pipelines
- Experience developing cloud first solutions, such as
- Serverless solutions
- Responsive web design
- Progressive Web Applications
- Experience with large data processing solutions, including using AI/ML models for ingestion and processing
- Working knowledge of Agile Scrum Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC)
- Experience in managing and leading one or more scrum teams
- Extensive experience working within an IT environment
- Significant experience in managing technologies, associated risks and working in partnership with external partners and vendors
- Experience in resource allocation, shaping priorities, and managing different skills within a team
- Demonstrable customer service focus and commercial acumen
- Well-developed relationship management and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Desirable:
- Experience developing Salesforce and/or Mule soft solutions
- Experience with Azure Cognitive Services, or similar AI/ML platform
- Experience designing, implementing and leveraging Data Lake/Data Warehouse solutions
- Experience deploying Mobile Applications
- Experience in project management methodologies and the practical management of projects
- Financial services background
