Our client is a highly regarded engineering consultancy that partners with leading mining operators across NSW. Known for their expertise in delivering automation, electrical and control system solutions, they provide end-to-end engineering services that keep critical mining operations running safely and efficiently. One of their key clients is Centennial Coal, where they provide ongoing project and technical support onsite.
About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join the consultancy's team, working directly onsite within a major coal mining operation. In this role, you'll lead the design, programming, commissioning and support of control systems that are essential to safe and efficient production. With a focus on Allen Bradley PLCs, Citect SCADA, and coal mining control standards, you'll be the go-to technical expert driving reliability and innovation in a high-risk environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, program, and integrate Allen Bradley PLCs and Citect SCADA systems for coal mining applications
* Deliver complete solutions from concept through commissioning and optimisation
* Provide onsite technical support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for control system issues
* Collaborate closely with the consultancy's engineering team, Centennial Coal's onsite teams, and other contractors to deliver safe, compliant outcomes
* Contribute to risk assessments, compliance documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
* 5-10+ years' experience in control systems engineering, preferably within coal mining or heavy industry
* Strong expertise in Allen Bradley PLCs, Citect SCADA and coal mining PLC standards
* Ability to work independently onsite and solve complex technical problems under pressure
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to liaise with multiple stakeholders
* Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics) preferred, though an Associate Diploma with relevant experience will be considered
