About the Opportunity
Cleared Recruitment is partnering with a Federal Government Department to engage a Data Flow Engineer / Data Flow Manager to join a highly specialised, secure program environment.
This role sits within a critical Data Flows team responsible for enabling secure, efficient data movement across systems and networks. You will play a key role in supporting mission-critical capabilities by designing, implementing, and maintaining data transfer solutions in a complex, high-security environment.
The Role
As a Data Flow Engineer, you will act as part of a team that functions as a digital \"post office\", enabling automated, secure routing of data between internal and external systems.
You will be responsible for building, managing, and optimising data flows while ensuring security, performance, and reliability across environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, test, and maintain secure data flows across multiple networks
* Monitor and manage data transfers to ensure continuous, reliable delivery
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimise downtime and service disruption
* Support the architecture, management, and operation of secure gateways
* Enable automated routing and ingestion of data from external and internal sources
* Develop and maintain technical documentation
* Collaborate with stakeholders including architects, engineers, and project teams
* Support integration of systems via APIs and object storage technologies
Required Experience
* 3+ years experience in data flow engineering, system administration, or similar roles
* Strong programming/scripting capability (Python, SQL)
* Experience with monitoring and alerting platforms
* Proven troubleshooting skills in complex environments
* Experience designing and building system integrations (APIs, object stores)
* Knowledge of automated deployments and CI/CD concepts
* Ability to integrate systems with domain services
* Experience in system configuration, testing, and integration validation
* Strong documentation and collaboration skills
Highly Desirable
* Linux system administration experience
* Experience working in secure or classified environments
* Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and version control practices
* Knowledge of cyber security principles and secure data handling
* Experience contributing to tooling, configuration, and integration design decisions
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in IT, Computer Science, or related field (desirable)
