About The Role
The Workforce, Population and Migration Group helps build South Australia's workforce through population and migration initiatives, and supports industry to attract, build and retain the workforce it requires, including through development and implementation of workforce plans and strategies.
The Workforce Capability team plays a critical role in developing necessary workforce capability to increase productivity, participation and knowledge‑intensive, value‑added activity in SA – aligned to the department's Strategic Directions – and contributing to the State's economic growth.
The Senior Manager Workforce Strategy and Policy will provide policy leadership and build partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of the strategic objectives of the Workforce Capability team. This includes leading a team, collaborating across the agency and government, engaging with external stakeholders, providing high‑quality policy advice, and delivering workforce plans and strategies and other policy initiatives for key sectors and regions.
Key Competencies
* Understanding of South Australia's growth sectors, workforce challenges, opportunities and priorities, and government workforce development funding and policies such as subsidised training, skills projects and initiatives, skilled migration, and graduate programmes.
* Strong political acumen and detailed understanding of government priorities, processes and accountabilities.
* High-level analytical and strategic thinking skills, to form evidence‑based ideas and provide high‑quality policy advice.
* Excellent communication of complex information and ideas, clearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writing with people at all levels internally and externally.
* Ability to convert ideas and advice into action, lead a team and apply best practice methodologies to the design, planning and implementation of policy processes and projects.

Competitive salary $127,859 p.a. plus superannuation

Qualifications
* Essential: Nil
* Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in economics, business or finance related disciplines, or equivalent experience.
Special Conditions
* The role will be offered full‑time (1.0 FTE), ongoing.
* Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) required prior to employment.
