Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join VMG in a newly created role. This position will work closely with the Senior Management Accountant and support the day-to-day finance operations and month-end reporting across the VMG group of businesses
This is a hands-on role, well suited to someone who enjoys contributing across a broad range of accounting activities as the finance function continues to scale.
Key responsibilities of the role
· Support the month-end close process across the VMG group, including preparation and posting of journals
· Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
· Perform daily/weekly bank reconciliations
· Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
· Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled
· Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis as required
· Review and analyse financial data to identify trends and discrepancies
· Support adherence to internal controls, accounting policies and procedures
· Assist with group reporting requirements, including exposure to consolidations
· Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes and systems
· Participate in ad-hoc analysis and finance projects as required
Skills and experience required
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
· CA or CPA qualified (or working towards completion)
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in finance or accounting, with a strong preference for candidates with month-end close experience
· Exposure to consolidations or understanding of the concepts surrounding consolidations
· Strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to apply accounting standards in practice
· High level of attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly
· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
· Experience with Xero preferred (but not essential)
· Experience with TM1 or similar planning tools desirable (but not essential)
