The role is based at the Maitland Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, or John Hunter Hospital, all located on the Hunter Valley and serving the Greater Newcastle area.What You'll Be Doing The Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) is a key member of the medical team working closely with specialists, fellows, registrars, and residents across a variety of acute settings. This network role provides extensive hands‐on experience across multiple specialities, with opportunities for education and progression toward training for Colleges such as ACEM, RACP, RACGP and CICM. Duties include patient assessment and care in general medicine, cardiology, rehabilitation/geriatrics, oncology, intensive care, and emergency departments. You will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, support senior medical leadership, and contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.Applicants with provisional or limited medical board registration must work under Level 2 supervision.Various start‐date options are available for the 2026 clinical year.QualificationsMBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Minimum 2 years post‐graduate experience, including 12 months as a medical officer in an Australian public hospital or equivalent.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, sharing appropriate information internally and externally.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to adapt communication style to suit the audience.Evidence of commitment to self‐education and continued professional development, with experience in teaching.Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and risk management.Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment, utilizing excellent clinical skills, judgment, and expertise.Ability to work at the facilities within the Network (Greater Newcastle Area) to deliver patient care and prepare for participation in a 24‐hour shift work roster.For role‐related queries or questions, contact Michelle Turner at HNELHD-SRMONetwork@health.nsw.gov.au.Applications Close: 20 April 2026#J-18808-Ljbffr
