Our client, a leading national insurance law firm with a strong reputation in the Australian market, is seeking an experienced defendant insurance lawyer to join their team in Melbourne. The firm is known for its specialist focus, collaborative culture and long-standing presence in the defendant insurance sector.
The role will involve defending professional indemnity and financial lines claims brought against directors, officers, companies and professionals across the legal, financial services, construction and property sectors. You will also have the opportunity to act for hospitals, clinics and healthcare providers in disciplinary proceedings, litigation and coronial inquests.
You will work closely with highly respected principals in the insurance space within a team that is committed to mentorship, career development and providing early responsibility. The firm offers a genuinely flexible working environment, structured mentorship and clear pathways for career progression.
About you
* 3-10 years' post‐qualification experience (Special Counsel level can also be considered)
* Experience in defendant professional indemnity and/or financial lines matters (commercial litigators with an interest in this area are encouraged to apply)
* Ability to confidently manage your own file load (supervision and mentoring provided to Associates)
* Strong drafting and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
* Client‐focused with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
* A collaborative and proactive approach
