The Development Directive is looking for a Principal Town Planner to play a key leadership role within our high-performing, close-knit team, delivering some of the most interesting and complex development projects across Queensland and New South Wales.
You will work closely with the Directors and our integrated Project Management team, with genuine influence over project outcomes, client relationships, and team capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead complex, high-risk, or strategically significant planning projects.
* Provide expert statutory and strategic planning advice.
* Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and delivery strategies.
* Review and provide direction on planning outputs across the team.
* Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships.
* Act as a senior point of contact on key projects.
* Lead negotiations with authorities and key stakeholders.
* Provide commercially informed and outcome-focused advice.
* Mentor and support team members across all levels.
* Contribute to technical leadership, quality assurance, and standards.
* Support capability development and knowledge sharing across the team.
* Contribute to and lead business development initiatives.
* Identify and convert opportunities for new and repeat work.
* Strengthen client relationships and market presence.
* Support proposals, client strategy, and growth initiatives.
About You
* A relevant qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
* Extensive experience in development assessment and planning advisory.
* A strong understanding of Queensland planning legislation (NSW experience beneficial).
* Proven ability to lead complex projects and manage client relationships.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership capability.
* Experience mentoring or leading others.
* Commercial awareness and interest in contributing to business growth.
* Experience in urban design and/or ArcGIS is beneficial but not essential.
