Overview
Profectus is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Technical Writers for current and upcoming opportunities supporting Defence engineering, ICT and capability delivery environments in Canberra.
These roles suit individuals who are comfortable working onsite in secure, security-focused settings, and who can work closely with technical and delivery teams to produce clear, structured and compliant documentation across Defence systems and programs.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
* Producing and maintaining Defence-compliant technical documentation across ICT and capability environments
* Translating complex technical, engineering, or operational information into clear, structured written artefacts
* Developing documentation such as system descriptions, procedures, work instructions, user guides, and operational manuals
* Supporting the documentation of system design, integration, sustainment, and change activities
* Working with engineers, architects, project staff and subject matter experts to capture and validate technical content
* Applying Defence writing standards, templates, and document control practices
* Supporting governance, assurance, and compliance documentation activities
* Contributing to documentation reviews, updates, and lifecycle management
Required
* Demonstrated experience as a Technical Writer or in a closely related documentation role
* Ability and willingness to work onsite in Canberra
* Experience working in Defence, government, or other highly regulated environments
* Strong written communication skills for producing clear technical and non-technical documentation
* Ability to work effectively with technical, project, and governance stakeholders
* Australian citizenship with an
AGSVA NV1 clearance (NV2 preferred)
Desirable
* Experience supporting Defence engineering, ICT and/or capability programs
* Familiarity with Defence frameworks, standards, or governance processes
* Experience documenting ICT systems, cyber security, cloud, or infrastructure environments
* Exposure to secure or classified environments
* Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional certifications
