Position Snapshot
Atwell is seeking a Structural Designer with experience in the Oil and Gas industry. Current projects include oil and natural gas, CO2, hydrogen, and renewable natural gas (RNG) pipelines and related facilities.
As a Structural Designer at Atwell, you will be responsible for executing and coordinating structural design efforts with a strong understanding of project scope, schedule, key milestones, deliverables and allocated design hours. You will ensure that all work adheres to Atwell's quality standards, client specifications, and applicable industry codes while supporting the design process from concept through construction documentation.
This role primarily involves the design of industrial ductwork, reinforced concrete structures, and structural steel components for pipeline and facility projects. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor is strongly preferred, along with experience producing detailed construction drawings for industrial and midstream energy infrastructure.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Interpret and implement structural design input from the Lead Structural Engineer for oil and gas facilities, including pipelines, compressor stations, terminals, and processing plants
- Develop detailed construction documents, including plans, sections and connection details for steel and concrete structures commonly used in oil and gas infrastructure
- Revise drawings based on redlines and coordinate updates with all affected sheets and disciplines
- Perform periodic field visits to verify existing conditions, collect structural framing measurements and support as‐built documentation
- Effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, delivering high‐quality results on schedule
- Maintain, update and organize structural detail libraries and base files to support consistency, efficiency and future project use
Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in Mechanical or Structural Drafting & Design Technology, or a related field (preferred)
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and structural plan sets for oil and gas facilities such as pipelines, terminals and process plants
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor (2021, 2022 or 2023) is required
- Minimum of 3 years of experience using AutoCAD and/or CADWorx for industrial structural or piping design
- Ability to perform under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced project environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Detail‐oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative design team
