About the role
CCA Legal Pty Ltd is seeking a Solicitor - to join the Hobart, Tasmania office.
We specialise in collecting strata levies for Owners Corporations in NSW (Local Court), ACT (ACAT) and VIC (VCAT). In addition we do a lot of bankruptcy work in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. You will appear in the Tribunals/Courts by Video continuously. All our clients are interstate.
What you'll be doing
You will prepare and run any defended strata levy cases, motions to strike out defences, obtain costs assessments per strata legislation and handle correspondence. There are usually multiple bankruptcy cases listed each week. Reviews of Registrars Orders in bankruptcy matters occur from time to time and occasionally appeals. Applications for substituted service of bankruptcy notices and creditors petitions are made regularly.
You will have the responsibility of reporting to clients and ensuring they are kept informed.
You will be given tasks to develop and refine procedures and documents, so they can be automated. There may be work in VCAT and ACAT to obtain rulings in relation to reasonable costs.
Comprehensive training and assistance will be provided. We have developed proprietary software over 28 years which facilitates automation of documentation along with many other functions to assist you. There may be opportunities for running training sessions for clients. We'd like you to drop in and explore the opportunity.
What we're looking for
1. A Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to practice as a Solicitor in Australia
2. The position would suit newly admitted Solicitors who have just completed the college of law or any other solicitors who are looking for a change.
3. Graduates admitted to practice with no post-qualification experience are eligible and welcome to apply.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice.
6. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team. We would like you to be open to assisting where appropriate in
7. Commitment to ongoing professional development and a keen interest in the legal industry
8. Some practical exposure to litigation and dispute resolution is required for this junior role.
9. Must have current Australian work authorisation or eligibility to work in Australia without visa sponsorship.
