About the Assignment
The primary objective of this position is to deliver effective program and project control measures from fund approval to total investment and closure.
Tasks include:
- Budget Development: Directly contribute to the annual (and subsequent development) capital budget process for Assets and Projects supported
- Budget Management: monitor and control developed budgets, ensuring adherence to financial thresholds and targets
- Forecast Management: support the timely and accurate submission of monthly internal and quarterly external capital forecasts at the program, and project level
- Reporting: prepare and present regular program, and project reports to key stakeholders, highlighting key insights, risks, and opportunities
- Project Delivery: directly support major project delivery (if applicable), measuring schedule and cost variances from the project baseline and taking appropriate action with the project management team
- Controls: maintain and continuously improve key cost controls and procedures including earned value management, estimate to complete (ETC) and estimate at completion (EAC) analysis, internal process audits, accruals, and commitment reviews
- Stakeholder Management: partner with budget, scope, and execution owners to provide insights over performance
- Compliance: ensure compliance with Joint Venture operating agreements in terms of Authority for Expenditure limits, budget control points and the Authority for Supplementary Expenditure process
- Change Management: support the change management process ensuring that scope, schedule, and cost changes are accounted for and approved by responsible stakeholders
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks (e.g., FX sensitivities) that could impact portfolio outcomes and develop mitigation strategies
- Trend Management: identify, analyse, and incorporate time, cost, and execution trends to refine capital positions and improve underlying capital accuracy
- Assurance: deliver integrated capital cost planning and inputs across the full project life cycle to support decision making and successful project outcomes
- Data Management: manage schedule, capital, and execution data in line with approved cost, operating and work breakdown structures to enable direct comparability across the Onshore Upstream portfolio
- Compliance with the Santos Management System (SMS); Santos Delegation of Authority (DOA) and Santos Corporate Governance and Safety requirements.
This assignment is initially offered for 12 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.
Location for this assignment is Brisbane working full-time office hours.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce, engineering or equivalent
- Formal Project Management Qualifications is desired
- Strong Project Controls and Project Services experience across major capital programs or projects
- Prior experience in the oil and gas or mining (or other major resource) industries
- Proficient in the use of visualisation software (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Power BI) and Microsoft Office software
- Proficiency in the use of large project-based systems (PRISM and SAP highly regarded)
- Experience supporting non-financial operational personnel, and the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to key stakeholders
- Exposure managing and distilling large, complex data sets with a heightened attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment.
