About the role
We are seeking a talented, motivated, and forward-thinking team member to join our Research & Development team. In this role, you will contribute across a wide variety of projects—from supporting day-to-day production and improving existing products, to enhancing factory processes and assisting with recent product development and custom projects.
This is a hands-on opportunity that blends design, problem-solving, and collaboration. You’ll work closely with production, sales, project, and design teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and meet client requirements. No two days will be the same.
What you’ll do
- Develop sketches, renders, and 3D models for new and existing products.
- Produce complete drawing packs: parts, assemblies, tolerances, BoMs, and revision control.
- Support prototyping and testing; iterate with R&D; to prove function, durability, and safety.
- Provide production support: resolve build issues, engineer jigs/fixtures, and improve manufacturability.
- Conduct quality checks on incoming parts and first-off builds; feed issues back into design and suppliers.
- Create and maintain manufacturing manuals, service procedures, and technical bulletins.
- Collaborate with Purchasing on part specifications and with Sales on technical information for custom jobs.
- Maintain a structured library of models, drawings, and standards to ensure repeatable, high-quality outcomes.
About you
Hands-on problem solver who’s comfortable both in the workshop and behind a computer.
Strong communicator; able to take a job from concept through to completion.
Organised, curious, and proactive—capable of juggling deadlines without compromising quality.
Skills & experience
- CAD: Onshape (preferred) and/or SolidWorks.
- Proven experience in a hands-on design role or working directly with tools.
- A background in electrical, mechanical, or engineering disciplines will be highly regarded.
- Work with a leading Australian-owned manufacturer.
