Key Role in Research Coordination
The Research Governance Officer plays a crucial part in overseeing research activities within the Queensland Government. This role ensures that all research conducted under its auspices meets ethical, legal, and institutional requirements, aligns with organisational priorities, and maintains the principles of scientific integrity and patient safety.
This position provides strategic leadership to ensure that all research is conducted in accordance with the highest standards of ethics and governance.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate Research Activities: Coordinate research applications, including ethics submissions, risk assessments, contract reviews, and data access requests.
* Assess Research Proposals: Assess research proposals for risk, compliance, and strategic alignment; identify and resolve issues efficiently.
* Provide Expert Guidance: Provide expert guidance and advice to researchers, liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
* Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and contribute to process improvement.
Essential Qualifications
* A tertiary qualification in health, science, research management, public administration, or a related field.
* Experience navigating research ethics and governance in a health-related field is highly desirable.
Critical Skills
* Foundational understanding of quantitative and qualitative health research methods.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
