As part of this vision, we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Coordinator Contracts & Procurement to lead our high-performing team.
About the Role
Reporting inititally to the Director Corporate Strategy & Performance, this senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing the City's Contracts & Procurement Sub-Unit. You will drive strategic procurement initiatives, uplift organisational contract management capability, and deliver improved value-for-money outcomes across the City.
You will lead a passionate team, foster a positive and collaborative culture, and partner with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver high-quality procurement, category management, and contract governance services. This role balances people leadership, technical expertise, continuous improvement, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, coach and develop the Contracts & Procurement Sub-Unit, promoting accountability, engagement and service excellence.
• Develop and implement a strategic procurement and contract management development plan aligned with the City's corporate goals.
• Provide expert advice to leaders, stakeholders and suppliers on procurement strategy, contract governance, and market insights.
• Establish and embed category management structures and improved procurement methodologies.
• Oversee tendering, contract administration and procurement practices in accordance with legislation, policies and corporate standards.
• Develop and deliver training on procurement policy, contract management and compliance requirements.
• Build strong relationships with internal clients, external suppliers, government agencies and partner organisations.
• Deliver timely, accurate and audience-focused reports, insights and recommendations.
• Foster innovation and drive business improvement initiatives across procurement and contract management functions.
• Ensure governance, compliance, risk, systems and data integrity requirements are met.
About You
You are an experienced procurement leader who brings both strategic capability and practical expertise. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at building relationships, and enjoy lifting organisational capability through collaboration and continuous improvement.
You will also bring:
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Extensive experience in procurement, contract management, public tendering and contract administration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
• Experience managing contractor performance and KPIs.
• Advanced skills in analysing spend profiles, category management and procurement planning.
• High-level organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of WHS responsibilities and risk management.
• Advanced digital literacy and experience using procurement or contract management systems.
