Chemist (Curtis Island) Job Description
We are seeking a full-time Chemist to cover a 12-month parental leave position on Curtis Island, based in Gladstone. The role involves commuting via ferry from Gladstone to Curtis Island.
Responsibilities:
* Laboratory operations and field sampling at the Curtis Island facility.
* Testing cargo for LNG assay and reporting according to market requirements.
* Testing waters, wastewaters, and assessing conditions at the LNG plant.
* Providing chemical analysis of routine and non-routine samples as directed by clients.
* Managing off-site chemical analysis for environmental, hydrocarbon, and LNG product testing.
Key Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related field.
* At least 2 years of experience in an oil and gas industry laboratory, especially in analytical testing of water, hydrocarbons, or similar.
* Operational experience with analytical instruments like gas chromatography, UV/Vis photometry, and titrimetric devices.
* Experience with live gas plant sampling stations and hazard awareness.
* Familiarity with NATA/ISO 17025 accreditation processes for chemical testing labs (favorable).
* Experience using a LIMS system.
