Evolving to meet community needs since 1988, Youth Futures is one of WA's oldest and largest youth specialist organisations, delivering 30+ programs across education and training, support and wellbeing, and homelessness.

Our schools are designed to re‑engage students who have struggled in mainstream education. We help them achieve their personal best, develop social and life skills, and work towards pathways in TAFE, employment, training or apprenticeships.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at our Youth Futures Community Hub in Midland, providing high‑quality support to young people facing various challenges. As a Social Worker, you will play an integral role in delivering therapeutic services, fostering mental and emotional wellbeing, and helping young people navigate complex issues, including homelessness, education, and personal challenges.


Key Responsibilities

* Provide individual and group counselling to young people experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, and other life difficulties.
* Conduct assessments to understand young peoples' needs and develop tailored support plans.
* Offer therapeutic interventions using evidence‑based practices, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution‑Focused Therapy, and other suitable approaches.
* Work collaboratively with young people and their families to empower them in setting and achieving personal goals.
* Advocate for our young people and support them in accessing external services (e.g. housing, healthcare, education).
* Monitor and evaluate progress, adjusting support plans as needed.
* Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date case notes and student records in line with privacy and confidentiality standards.
* Collaborate with other team members to provide holistic care and ensure continuity of support.
* Provide crisis intervention and support when needed.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of wellbeing programmes and workshops.


Essential Skills / Qualifications

* Appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Relevant experience providing counselling and support to young people in a social or community services setting (12‑18 years old).
* Strong understanding of trauma‑informed practice and youth mental health.
* Experience with a range of therapeutic modalities and a commitment to evidence‑based practice.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* A current WWC (Working With Children certificate) and police clearance (not more than 3 months old) required.
* Full working rights in Australia.
