We are seeking an experienced and proactive Business Manager (Directorate Performance) to play a key leadership role supporting the Directorate to deliver high-quality services, strong governance, and meaningful community outcomes.

You will lead forward planning and performance across the assigned directorate translating enterprise strategy into integrated, actionable plans, ensuring alignment, optimisation and enterprise performance for sustainable organisational outcomes.

About the Role

As the Business Manager (Directorate Performance), you will help turn corporate and directorate goals into clear, practical objectives that guide the work of teams across the directorate. You will lead the development of the directorate's strategic and business plans and ensure progress is regularly monitored through simple, effective performance routines.

Reporting to the Director and working closely with the leadership team, you will support the directorate to stay aligned, focused, and accountable. You will help teams understand priorities, track what matters, and build capability in ways that strengthen a positive, values‐driven culture. This role plays a key part in ensuring the directorate delivers on its commitments and continues to improve how it works.

You will provide high‐level advice, deliver robust business frameworks, and manage performance systems that enable evidence‐based decision‐making. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, builds strong relationships, and brings a proactive approach to enterprise performance and governance.

You will also lead a team in the delivery of day-to-day operations and support to the Director, including diary and meeting management, financial, people and business matters. Providing senior expert advice to the Director.

You will collaborate often with senior leaders of business functions in relation to service delivery as well as industry stakeholders and other Business Managers (Directorate Performance) to initiate and deliver enterprise initiatives focused on performance and long-term organisational sustainability.

About you

You are an experienced leader who can move comfortably between strategic thinking and operational delivery.

You will bring:

* Relevant qualifications in business, commerce, change management or other discipline.
* Track record of experience leading and motivating enterprise performance, developing plans and systems, and providing senior expertise to executives, preferably in a government and political context.
* High level judgement, researching, analytical and problem-solving skills, exercising initiative within broad policy, legislative and strategic frameworks.
* Great leadership skills to foster employee engagement, connection and high performing, values-driven work culture.
* Strong stakeholder management capability (internal and external) to deliver cross organisational initiatives focused on performance and sustainability.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate effective consultation, engagement, negotiation, conflict resolution and change management.
