Project Overview
Bechtel has been engaged to provide EPCM services to replace existing Balanced Machines at facilities in the Pilbara region in Western Australia. The project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new balanced machines as well as design and construction of associated off-board scope, including earthworks, structural works and electrical upgrades.
Job Summary
In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. Use your expertise to improve Bechtel's existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements. This position will move to a 2 & 1 rotation upon site execution scopes.
Major Responsibilities
* Provide guidance on executing approved Constructability ideas and plans.
* Initiate the Constructability Program process and schedule, identifying construction related requirements to other functions in time to support their estimating efforts during FEED.
* Participate and may lead construction related design decisions, providing perspective on schedules, design deliverables, equipment purchases, shop fabrication, and delivery configuration.
* Maintain effective interface with Home office construction team and jobsite team to ensure construction requirements are communicated to Engineering.
* Lead and participate in 3D Model reviews, interdisciplinary coordination reviews of design drawings and ensure designs are safe, constructible, and cost effective.
Non-Project Responsibilities
* Assist with development and delivery of Constructability awareness training and/or enterprise or project supervisory and technical training.
* Maintain and develop enterprise-wide processes and procedures.
* Coordinate with projects to implement the Quality Management System.
* Sponsor and develop enterprise applications.
* Assist in and may lead proposal efforts.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* A recognised degree or qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
* Progressive work experience, including engineering, assembly commissioning and inspection of balanced machines, preferably Reclaimers and Stackers.
* Technical knowledge of bulk materials handling balanced machines engineering design to relevant Australian Standards (including AS4324.1), 3D models, Inventor and Navisworks, as well as DEM and conveyor design software is advantageous.
* Experience with hydraulic drive systems is advantageous.
* Proven experience in similar role(s) with "brownfields" knowledge and successes will be viewed favourably.
* Comfortably able to work as part of integrated engineering team comprising the other engineering disciplines / multi-functional (procurement, construction, startup) and transglobal teams.
* Remote site/Field experience.
Preferred
* Balanced machines experience.
