At Australia Zoo, our Cleaners have the opportunity to get out and about on our gorgeous 110 acres of grounds, making sure that our high standards of cleanliness are maintained throughout the Zoo. Our Cleaners also engage with our patrons, assisting in making them feel welcomed.
The Cleaning Services Manager will ensure the cleaning department maintains a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the zoo. You will have primary responsibility for the procedures and policies of the Cleaning department and will ensure operational systems are in place for the services being conducted by the Zoo's Cleaning staff.
To be successful in this role, you will have a demonstrated ability to lead a small and hardworking team, have great communication and work collaboratively with the Senior Management team. You must be a quick thinker, and be willing to jump in and help out the team wherever needed.
A successful applicant must be fit for physical work, enthusiastic, mature-minded, confident, well-presented and able to demonstrate a high level of work-ethic and initiative. Customer Service skills are also a must.
**Duties include -**
- Cleaning of all amenities
- Cleaning & maintaining all public areas (admissions, entrance, lower level administration building, footpaths, demonstration areas)
- General cleaning of office areas as required
- Waste Disposal, litter removal on or surrounding zoo property
- Maintaining all pathways, access areas, service roads and main buildings throughout the Zoo
- Cleaning wet/dry spills
- Effective and safe use of chemicals as per the Safety Data Sheets
- Effective and Safe use of hand cleaning and maintenance equipment (Vacuum, Blower, Sweeper, Mop, Duster, Gurney, Buggy etc)
- Ensure all high touch points are sanitised according to COVID-19 workplace standards
- Directing all cleaning staff in accordance to the departments policies, procedures and plans
- Conduct performance reviews in collaboration with the HR department
- Assist with department procedure updates in collaboration with the HR department
- Work closely with the Senior Management Team and communicate effectively with members of all Zoo departments to ensure cleaning opportunities are effectively identified and rectified as soon as possible
- Ensure all chemicals within the cleaning department are stored in accordance to the Safety Data Sheets and in collaboration with the Workplace Health and Safety Officer
- Ensure effective and efficient rostering of cleaning staff
- Implement management systems to manage staff and cleaning supplies
- Guest relations (providing directions and information to guests).
- Maintain high standard of customer service throughout all areas
- A commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
- Work within the guidelines of Workplace Health & Safety procedures to ensure security & safety of self, staff, visitors and animals
- Participate in performance training and development reviews or programs as requested by the company both on and off the job.
- Attend meetings as requested by Management
- Work within a team environment
- Other duties as required by Supervisor, HR or Senior Management
**Essential Criteria -**
- Hold current Driver's Licence (manual)
- Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with guests throughout the Zoo grounds
- Experience in a similar role and long term commitment to Australia Zoo
- Ability to lead a team
- Proof of Coronavirus Vaccination (unless otherwise exempt)
**Preferred Criteria -**
- Any other relevant Certificates or Qualifications
- Current Advanced 1st Aid Qualifications
- Proof of Q-fever Vaccination (unless otherwise exempt)
