Intake Coordinator (Nurse)

We are currently seeking a motivated and clinically experienced Registered Nurse to join our intake team — a critical gateway to care for the people we serve.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As an Intake Coordinator at Arrow Health, you will be the first clinical point of contact for individuals seeking mental health and addiction treatment. You will play a vital role in guiding prospective patients and their families through the enquiry and admissions process, conducting clinical assessments, and ensuring a smooth, dignified pathway into care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enquiry Management
* Manage and triage enquiries across phone, email and online channels in a timely and professional manner
* Maintain accurate records of all enquiries within the clinical information system
* Provide clear, empathetic, and accurate information about Arrow Health's programs and services
* Respond to inbound referrals and enquiries from patients, families, GPs, psychiatrists and other referrers
Patient Assessment
* Conduct structured clinical intake assessments to determine patient suitability, acuity and treatment needs
* Apply clinical knowledge to identify risk factors and escalate appropriately when required
* Gather and document relevant clinical history, mental health, and substance use information
* Collaborate with treating clinicians and the admissions team to formulate appropriate care pathways
Admission Coordination
* Coordinate all aspects of the patient admission process, from initial contact through to arrival
* Liaise with clinical teams, bed managers and administrative staff to facilitate timely admissions
* Prepare admission documentation and ensure patients and families are well-informed and supported
* Support patients and carers through what can be a complex and emotionally sensitive process
Quality & Compliance
* Maintain documentation in accordance with professional nursing standards and organisational policy
* Contribute to continuous improvement of intake processes and patient experience
* Adhere to privacy, confidentiality, code of conduct and mandatory reporting obligations at all times

You are a clinically confident Nurse with a genuine passion for mental health and a talent for building rapport quickly. You are organised, calm under pressure and committed to delivering a high-quality experience for every person who reaches out to Arrow Health.
Essential
* Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
* 2 years' post-registration nursing experience
* Experience in mental health, addiction, or acute/sub-acute settings
* Strong clinical assessment skills with demonstrated ability to identify and manage risk
* Exceptional communication and active listening skills
* Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and under sensitive circumstances
* Proficiency with clinical information systems and electronic records
Highly Regarded
* Motivational interviewing or brief intervention training
* Familiarity with private hospital or private health insurance processes
* Post-graduate qualification in mental health nursing or a related field
* Experience in an intake, triage or bed management role
