About the role
We are seeking a Procurement Category Manager for a 12 month fixed term contract to lead the sourcing and optimisation of packaging materials and dry goods essential to wine production and co-packing operations.
You will combine strategic procurement with technical packaging expertise to deliver cost‐effective, sustainable solutions that meet operational and product development needs.
Working closely with Project Managers and Product Specialists, you will ensure all packaging requirements are met across New Product Development (NPD), Existing Product Development (EPD), and vintage rollovers. You will play a key role in resolving technical challenges, driving innovation, and aligning procurement activities with Vinarchy's broader supply chain strategy.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and execute category strategies for direct procurement, supported by market analysis and long‐term sourcing plans
* Lead strategic sourcing activities including RFPs, supplier evaluations, benchmarking, negotiations, and contract management
* Manage key supplier relationships, driving performance, compliance, innovation, sustainability, and continuous improvement
* Support NPD and EPD projects through early supplier engagement, cost modelling, and ensuring packaging and material readiness
* Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance on production needs, budgeting, PPV, and category spend analytics
* Identify and mitigate category risks, ensuring alignment with procurement policies, governance requirements, and responsible sourcing standards
* Deliver cost optimisation initiatives through value engineering, packaging optimisation, and commercial improvements
What we are looking for
* 5+ years' experience in procurement, category management, or packaging-focused commercial roles, preferably within FMCG or wine/beverage industries
* Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline
* Experience negotiating contracts, managing suppliers, and running RFX/tender processes
* Analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend, forecast requirements, and make data-driven recommendations
* Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
* Strong collaboration skills to work cross-functionally across regions and teams
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/procurement systems
* Ability to travel for business when required
