Join one of Australia's largest and most complex local government organisations as it undertakes a major, multi-year Modern ERP transformation.
As part of this transformation, the organisation is implementing SAP S/4HANA to modernise finance and procurement capabilities, improve service delivery, and enable sustainable, future-ready operations.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced SAP Business Analyst - Core Procurement (Source-to-Pay) to support the Core Finance Value Stream within the Modern ERP Program. Reporting to the Finance Business Readiness Lead, you will play a critical role in the design, build, testing, and deployment of SAP S/4HANA procurement and finance processes, leveraging the SAP Activate methodology.
This role is ideally suited to a senior, outcome-driven Business Analyst with deep SAP Source-to-Pay expertise and a proven track record on large-scale finance transformation programs.
Key Responsibilities
Analyse and document current and future-state Source-to-Pay business processes, identifying opportunities for standardisation, automation, and efficiency.
Assess and streamline procurement and finance workflows, ensuring alignment with ERP best practice and regulatory requirements.
Support solution design across requisition-to-pay, approvals, controls, and procurement-finance integration.
Identify gaps, risks, and dependencies in proposed solutions, constructively challenging deviations from agreed designs.
Translate complex business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, and traceable deliverables.
Support testing activities including test case development, system testing, UAT, defect management, and go-live readiness.
Develop training materials and end-user documentation to support adoption and change.
Maintain end-to-end traceability across requirements, design, build, test, and deployment artefacts.
Engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders, vendors, and delivery partners to achieve program outcomes.
About You
You are a highly capable, project-minded SAP Business Analyst who thrives in complex, high-stake environments. You combine strong technical understanding with excellent stakeholder engagement and service delivery focus.
Essential Experience and Skills:
7+ years' experience as a Business Analyst on complex programs or projects.
Strong end-to-end knowledge of SAP Source-to-Pay, including:
SAP MM and VIM
Requisition-to-Pay workflows
Procurement-Finance integration
Approvals, controls, and compliance
Demonstrated experience on large finance migration or ERP transformation programs.
Ability to translate business needs into functional requirements and user stories.
Strong experience working with diverse stakeholder groups to deliver high-quality system designs and user experiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level documentation and presentations.
Proven ability to work effectively with virtual, cross-functional, and vendor teams.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
High emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
Strong problem-solving skills, particularly during testing, cutover, and go-live phases.
Adaptable, resilient, and committed to continuous improvement.
Desirable
Experience delivering large-scale financial transformation programs within Federal, State, or Local Government.
Understanding of public sector financial compliance and reporting frameworks.
Experience with SAP Signavio (BPMN).
Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, CCBA, or similar).
Chartered Accountant qualification.
