About the Role
Express Portables is looking for a strong Archicad Building Designer / Draftsperson to join our team and work alongside our Head Draftsman on modular and prefabricated building products.
This is a full-time, office-based role on the Gold Coast.
The role sits across design, documentation and real-world delivery. You’ll be producing 3D models, renders and production drawings that go straight into manufacturing, while also supporting the marketing team with high-quality 3D visuals (animation a bonus).
This is a mid-level position, suited to someone confident in Archicad and comfortable owning their work.
Our product range includes Expander Homes, modular buildings, prefabricated offices and bathrooms, all manufactured overseas and installed across Australia.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Build 3D models in Archicad for new and existing products
• Produce high-quality 3d renders
• Create floor plans, elevations, sections and technical layouts
• Develop new product concepts and design variations
• Translate designs into clear production-ready drawings
• Review customer customisations and document changes
• Assist with visuals for marketing and installation guides
• Maintain and improve our Archicad library and systems
Client & Factory Coordination
• Work with clients on custom design changes
• Communicate with overseas manufacturers (in English)
What We’re Looking For
• Strong Archicad modelling skills (essential)
• Experience producing high-quality 3D renders (Lumion, Twinmotion or similar) – animation a bonus
• High attention to detail and visual quality
• Ability to balance creative output with technical accuracy
• Confident communicator with clients and overseas factories
• Interest in modular, prefabricated and scalable building systems
• Takes ownership and works with speed
AI & Automation (Important)
We expect you to be actively using AI in your day-to-day work.
• Use AI tools to assist with design ideas, layouts and problem solving
• Improve speed and output across modelling, rendering and documentation
• Stay up to date with new AI tools relevant to design, visualisation and workflow
• Continuously test and adopt better ways of working using AI

This is not a typical residential drafting role.
You’ll be working on factory built products, not one-off houses.
Design once, refine, and scale across hundreds of builds.

This role is not suited to someone pursuing a career in traditional architectural residential or commercial design.
