Overview
Medical Laboratory Technician - Haematology at NSW Health Pathology, John Hunter Hospital. The John Hunter Hospital laboratory serves a wide community with specialties including trauma, obstetrics, cardiology, transplant, haematology and oncology for all ages. You will be part of a dynamic team of technicians and scientists with a positive culture who use the RITE values to serve our community. The JHH Haematology Laboratory Medical Laboratory Technicians participate in a 24 hour roster and work within the Routine Haematology, Morphology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion.
What you'll be doing
Perform a range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) in the Haematology laboratory (including routine Haematology, Morphology, Coagulation and Transfusion) by applying established methods and procedures, as directed. Undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols.

Minimum qualifications
* Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services, preferably within Haematology including routine haematology, morphology, coagulation and transfusion, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
* Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes to meet client expectations
* Customer focused approach with well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication
* Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills and ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory and investigate and resolve issues
* Commitment to quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities

* Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases: This is a Category A position. All Category A applicants must read and understand NSW Health Policy Directive PD2024_015. All recruits must comply with the requirements of this policy and provide evidence at their own cost prior to appointment.
* Working Rights: This is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment, you must have Australian citizenship or permanent residency. Non-citizens may be eligible for temporary employment for the duration of their current visa.
