ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you ready to launch your career in strategic planning and make a meaningful impact on community development? We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as a Cadet Strategic Planner for a 12‐month period. This role will provide you with invaluable hands‐on experience and mentorship as you assist our Strategic Planning team in fulfilling its obligations under the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assess planning scheme amendments against relevant legislation.
* Support strategic planning projects such as the Wonthaggi Structure Plan Review.
* Assist in community consultation and exhibition processes.
* Help prepare courteous and informative written responses to planning inquiries, reports, and planning projects and amendments.
* Collaborate effectively within the team environment, attend Council or public meetings as required and conduct site inspections (under supervision).
QUALIFICATIONS
* Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field.
* Basic understanding of relevant legislation, particularly the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
