As an O&M Field Technician you will be at the heart of that mission. Based in either Canberra or Adelaide, you will work closely with other field technicians and travel through the week to each of our BESS project sites located in Canberra (ACT), Wandoan (QLD), Tailem Bend (SA), as required, and be home for the weekend!
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for performing scheduled maintenance, responding to faults, and perform HV switching operations in accordance with network and safety requirements for utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). This position reports to O&M Manager based in Melbourne, Victoria (where Doosan GridTech Head Office is based).

What you will do:
* Perform HV switching operations in accordance with network and safety requirements.
* Perform electrical maintenance on BESS infrastructure including inverters, transformers, switchgear.
* Conduct scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, and fault-finding tasks across multiple remote project sites.
* Execute corrective maintenance and respond to outages, ensuring minimal system downtime.
* Maintain site documentation and submit detailed reports on work performed.
* Work closely with remote engineers, O&M Manager, Safety Manager and control room teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
* Support commissioning activities and provide technical feedback to improve long-term system performance.
* Ensure strict compliance with WHS standards and electrical safety regulations across all jurisdictions.
* Maintain spare parts inventory, service tools, and site consumables.
* Represent Doosan GridTech with professionalism and uphold high levels of customer service and site conduct.
What you will bring:
* Minimum 6 years' experience in electrical maintenance or field service within power generation, renewables, or industrial electrical sectors.
* Valid Grade A Electrician Licence (must hold or be eligible for multiple state licences including QLD, ACT, SA; VIC licence preferred)
* Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
* Valid HV Switching Certificate
* Construction White Card
* Valid unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence
* Proven experience maintaining and fault-finding electrical systems in industrial or utility, or renewable energy environments (including inverters, batteries, transformers, switchgear, and control systems).
* Exceptional troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
* Strong knowledge of local and national electrical codes and HV/LV operational safety procedures, including arc flash standards.
* Experience working safely in the field with a sound understanding of WHS and electrical isolation practices.
* Experience with SCADA, PLC systems, and remote monitoring tools.
* Comfortable working independently in remote environments.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to document activities clearly.
* Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice to projects sites and interstate (currently Wandoan (QLD), Tailem Bend (SA), and Canberra (ACT), on a weekly basis.
* Candidates must have full working rights in Australia. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
