Teacher Aide VET Building & Construction - Industry to Educator Pathway - Cherry Creek
Parkville College is a multi-campus school that delivers education at Cherry Creek and Parkville Youth Justice Precincts, and Secure Care Units.
It is a registered specialist school, providing high-quality educational programs for young people aged ***** years in custody, in partnership with the Department of Justice and Community Safety and with secure services from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
The college follows a culturally responsive pedagogy, supporting the development and growth of all students through a flexible range of educational options including the Victorian Curriculum (Foundation-10), Senior Secondary Certificates (VCE, VM and VPC) and vocational studies.
Teachers at Parkville College are required to be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
This may include working on units when classrooms are unavailable, supporting curriculum delivery across multiple units, and engaging in outreach.

Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to support high-quality VET learning programs and engage young people in practical, hands-on vocational learning.
Capacity to provide high-level support to students with diverse learning needs, abilities and behaviours in a custodial setting.
Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, with the ability to apply these approaches in VET learning environments.
Ability to manage competing work priorities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to effective program coordination within complex operational settings.
Demonstrated commitment to developing as a VET educator through the Industry to Educator Pathway, including completion of the TAE***** qualification and participation in supervised teaching.
Role
This position may also include Saturday and school holiday work.
The role is at Range 3, involving management responsibility for professional support services, coordination with staff and the school community, and liaison with senior management for complex matters.
Responsibilities
Support planning, preparation and delivery of VET programmes (e.g., Visual Art, Engineering, Cookery, Horticulture, Sport, Building & Construction, Hair Salon, Music) under teacher direction.
Deliver small-group or individual instruction and assist students in gaining hands-on skills linked to industry standards.
Co-facilitate learning activities and support competency-based assessment processes.
Maintain accurate attendance, engagement and progress records.
Participate in the Industry to Educator Pathway: complete the TAE***** Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, attend required modules, workshops, two 5-day intensive face-to-face training blocks and complete all workplace-based practical requirements.
Progress through a Gradual Release Model for teaching capability (Observations, supported delivery, supervised lead delivery, structured mentoring).
Build secure relationships with students, support engagement for those with disrupted schooling histories, apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice, and contribute to a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment.
Adhere to policies and security protocols of DJCS, DFFH, VPS and DE; manage approval processes for materials and resources; follow risk assessments, behaviour management plans and mandatory reporting obligations; complete all Parkville and DJCS mandatory training.
Participate in reflective practice, learning walks, coaching, resource development, program planning, evaluation and give feedback to VET program leads.
Demonstrate behaviours that reflect Parkville College ethos, values and strategic direction.

The successful candidate must hold at least a Certificate II Building and Construction Pre-apprenticeship *****VIC or an equivalent qualification, with transcripts or certificates of completion provided prior to commencement.
