As the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you will lead the development and implementation of frameworks and programs that support injury prevention, return-to-work, and holistic wellbeing, ensuring the Council meets its regulatory obligations and maintains contemporary best practices. Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) strategy. Oversee the HSW Management System, ensuring compliance with legislation and standards. Foster a positive safety culture through engagement, education, and coaching. Design and deliver tailored HSW programs and initiatives. Build leadership and employee capability to support a strong HSW culture. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective HSW outcomes. Ensure safe systems of work and compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Promote a culture of reporting and continuous improvement in incident management. Requirements
Tertiary qualification in OHS, Risk Management, or a related field (minimum Certificate IV in WHS; Graduate Diploma/Master’s in OHS desirable). Proven leadership experience in health, safety and wellbeing within complex, multi-stakeholder environments, ideally in government or large organisations. Demonstrated success in designing and executing strategic OHS frameworks. Robust track record in leading major HSW projects, compliance audits, and wellbeing initiatives. Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies and data-driven decision making. Skilled in stakeholder engagement, change management, and influencing at all levels. How to Apply
