We are seeking a qualified Senior Heritage Advisor/Archaeologist to drive the success of our cultural heritage projects. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to utilize your expertise and satisfy your sense of adventure through consultative projects across Victoria.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overall responsibility for delivering high-quality cultural heritage projects from inception to completion.
* Strategic oversight of project milestones and stakeholder engagement, ensuring seamless communication throughout all stages.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with Traditional Owners, respecting their rights and interests at all times.
* Preparing detailed reports such as CHMPs, CHPs, survey reports, salvage reports, and due diligence assessments that meet the highest standards.
* Directing archaeological field surveys and excavations, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and thorough documentation.
* Coordinating the repatriation of cultural heritage material, adhering to all relevant protocols and guidelines.
* Mentoring team members and fostering industry awareness, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals.
Requirements:
* At least 5 years' experience in managing large-scale projects, with a proven track record of delivering results under pressure.
* 5+ years of work experience with Archaeology, including a strong understanding of cultural heritage legislation and best practices.
* Accreditation as a Heritage Advisor, demonstrating expertise in this specialized field.
* Bachelor's Degree in Archaeology (minimum Honours level), with advanced qualifications or certifications highly desirable.
* Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both technically and non-technically, tailoring messages to suit each audience.
* Expertise in cultural heritage legislation, including the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Heritage Act 2017, with a deep understanding of relevant regulations and policies.
* Strong technical writing and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information in a clear and concise manner, suitable for both expert and non-expert audiences.
* Proficiency in GIS is an added advantage, enabling the development of innovative solutions and efficient project management strategies.
