About the role
North East Water provides water and sewage services to over 110,000 people across 39 towns throughout north east Victoria. This role is an exciting opportunity to utilise your scientific mindset and skills to work across our 21 water treatment plants and collaborate with our 4 water treatment teams. You will have access to a diverse range of learning opportunities, allowing you to expand your knowledge and skills in the field of water treatment and water quality.
As a
Water Quality Officer,
you will play a vital role in the delivery of safe drinking water, using risk management principles and data analytics. Furthermore, you will assist in the implementation of operational systems improvements in relation to drinking water compliance, strategy, and general product quality management.
This role is a
full-time opportunity until January 2027,
including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the
provision of safe and reliable drinking water.
* Provide
expertise in water quality, including blue green algae management
.
* Deliver
projects relating to water quality compliance.
* Ensure the organisation is meeting key legislative requirements in relation to
Safe Drinking Water requirements.
* Provide
support in coordination of improvement programs
.
* Assist with developing
monitoring programs and metrics.

Key Selection Criteria
1. Experience and knowledge relating to the delivery of safe drinking water services and/or blue green algal management and/or risk management systems and their application.
2. Investigative mindset that seeks continuous improvements to process and procedures to support an excellent customer experience.
3. Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise with peers and external stakeholders to discuss and resolve specialist and/or intra-organisational problems.
4. Ability to interpret and review technical data and prepare technical reports.
5. Qualification in Science and/or Engineering or experience in water quality assessment, natural resource management, catchment management or water treatment processes.

Position Information
* An attractive salary range of $78,527 to $88,313 plus 12% superannuation, depending on skills and experience.
* This is a
full time, limited tenure
position
until January 2027
.
