The Team

Public Health Services (PHS) works to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of all Tasmanians by engaging with individuals, groups and communities statewide and nationally. The Radiation Protection Team within PHS is responsible for the administration of the Radiation Protection Act in Tasmania to protect people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. This is achieved through licensing, registration and a broad range of compliance and education activities.

The Role

* Assist in the development and implementation of contemporary policies, procedures, codes of practice, standards, guidelines and legislation regulating the sale, storage, possession, and use of radiation apparatus and radioactive material in Tasmania.
* Implement compliance activities, including inspections and investigations, to ensure the safe use of radiation apparatus and radioactive material in Tasmania.
* Provide expert professional advice to a diverse range of clients on a broad range of policy issues pertaining to the regulatory system for radiation sources.
* Monitor state, national and international policy trends and scientific developments using available resources, including literature and specialist meetings.
* Conduct research and innovative projects in a timely and efficient manner to enhance radiation safety outcomes across a broad range of practices, including medical, dental, veterinary, industrial, and laser.

Details Of Appointment

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary

$123,717 to $134,336 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility

* Satisfactory completion of an approved tertiary qualification in Medical Physics or Health Physics or Physics or a related discipline.

Applicants Should Note The Following Criteria Are Desirable

* Current Driver's Licence
* Relevant postgraduate qualifications with at least five years practical experience as a Health Physicist.
