OverviewNuclear Medicine Medical Physicist/Deputy Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) role at The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH).
This is an ongoing part time position (0.2–0.5 EFT) for an RSO Medical Physicist.
The Grade 3 nuclear medicine medical physicist/deputy radiation safety officer will be involved in all aspects of providing a medical physics and radiation safety service across RCH, including facilitation of the Medical Imaging Department's quality assurance program and performance testing of radiology and/or nuclear medicine equipment to ensure compliance with Victorian regulatory requirements and relevant Australian Standards.ResponsibilitiesProvide medical physics and radiation safety services to The Royal Children's Hospital.Assist in facilitating the Medical Imaging Department's quality assurance program.Perform performance testing of radiology and/or nuclear medicine equipment to ensure compliance with Victorian regulatory requirements and relevant Australian Standards.Support the Radiation Safety Officer duties under supervision.Essential qualifications and experienceRegistration on the ACPSEM Register of Qualified Medical Physics Specialists in Nuclear Medicine PhysicsVictorian Radiation Use LicenceVictorian regulatory approval for radiation dose estimates for research trialsExperience in calculating individual patient doses and using dosimetry equipmentExperience in Quality Improvement programmesExperience in tutoring, teaching or radiation safety presentationsExperience in radiation shielding calculationsIn-depth knowledge of medical imaging technology and radiation safety principles applied to medicineUnderstanding of Victorian, Australian and International Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to radiation safety in medicineExperience testing Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging systems to NEMA standardsDesirableInvolvement in evaluation and implementation of scientific research protocolsHold or be eligible to hold Victorian Tester's ApprovalApplication processTo apply, submit a resume and a tailored cover letter outlining your skills, experience, and suitability for the position in line with the position description.
