About the Role
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through prevention, preparation, response and recovery activities across emergency situations. This role supports the Auxiliary Firefighter recruitment process in Gympie.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as an Auxiliary Firefighter.
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education activities.
* Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and other relevant training courses.
* Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively.
* Contribute to upkeep and hygiene of station facilities.
* Ensure maintenance and repair of operational equipment and station facilities.
* Contribute to incident reporting and general station administration as required.
* Promote a positive team approach in all work activities.
* Comply with legislative, policy and procedural requirements appropriate to the position.
* Communicate effectively with QFES personnel, other emergency service providers and the general community.
* Adhere to organisational health principles and procedures to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Employers written consent to attend incidents and emergencies where applicable.
* Live or work within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station.
* Australian Permanent Resident Status.
* Manual C Class driver's licence.
* Attend 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker or non-routine hours.
* Attend 75% of regular drill and training sessions.
* Obtain an MRV licence within 12 months of employment.
* Participate in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid and emergency care.
* Comply with QFES policies and procedures including code of conduct, safety and personal presentation standards.
* Demonstrate leadership and management behavioural competencies as per the Queensland Public Service Workforce Capability Success Profile.
* Exemplify QFES shared values: Respect, Integrity, Trust, Courage and Loyalty.
