Gallery Officer — Wangaratta, VIC | Permanent Part Time (20 hours per fortnight) | $35.43 per hour + super

Do you have a passion for the arts and a genuine love of working with people? Wangaratta Art Gallery is offering an exciting opportunity for a Gallery Officer to join our vibrant and creative team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys engaging with the community, and wants to contribute to a growing regional arts destination.

As a Gallery Officer, you will be the welcoming face of the Gallery, delivering exceptional customer service to our visitors and supporting the smooth running of events, programs, and day to day operations. You will work front of house every second weekend and play a key role during the week across finance, communications, events, retail, and volunteer coordination.

You will bring strong administrative skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes, including website updates, social media and electronic communications platforms, finance systems, and basic design tools. Your warm, customer focused approach will support gallery shop sales, assist with functions and events, and help build positive relationships with our valued volunteer team.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide customer service and supervise the gallery during weekend hours and when other staff are absent.
* Assist with planning and delivery of events such as exhibition openings, workshops, and talks, including event setup, catering, promotion, ticketing, and bookings.
* Undertake office administration tasks, including purchase orders, processing invoices, receipting, and updating gallery operational documents.
* Help create and distribute marketing materials and communications (social media, emails, website content).
* Maintain and coordinate the volunteer team, including scheduling and communication.
* Support the Gallery shop by managing supplier lists and placing orders.
* Assist with exhibition documentation and reporting, including media coverage and general administrative support as required.
