We are looking for an engineer who can rise to technical design challenges and wants to help drive a close-knit, collaborative, friendly team forward in technically demanding areas within geotechnics and pavements. This is a chance to work closely within an existing team as well as develop your own technical design group using existing WML geotechnical staff. Go after the projects you want to work on as well as working with existing clients on a wide range of technically demanding projects. The company is currently engaged in a range of Civil, commercial, infrastructure and mining projects in Western Australia, from which WML is able to offer a variety of project experiences and interest to our engineering staff. ABOUT THE ROLE Key Responsibilities: Assist with managing and mentoring the Perth office geotechnical section resources. Establish and lead project teams. Advance the geotechnical team with regards to technical capability in areas of their preference. Undertake complex and challenging geotechnical design and reporting. Mentor WML geotechnical staff. Direct geotechnical staff and review their work for compliance. Key Deliveries: Supervision and Management Prepare job proposals, including identification of resources to meet agreed programmes, budgets and performance levels, for review and signing by the Job Manager. Execute projects utilizing the WML Consultants Integrated Management System (IMS), and in special cases an IMS specified by the Client. Form part of project teams. Design Design and undertake field investigations. Prepare engineering designs for various engineering projects in accordance with the relevant Australian and Western Australian standards and codes of practice. Prepare engineering reports. Consult approving authorities and agencies and comply with mandatory requirements. Carry out design checks on own work and the work of others. Undertake ongoing training and development to expand skills and knowledge. Undertake research and include innovation in design solutions where appropriate. Project Management Manage the scoping, project development, design, delivery, and review of assigned projects. Direct drafting staff and review their work for compliance. Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of project management processes and systems within the Company. Contract Management Prepare contract documentation and manage the contract tendering process. Manage contracts and contractors to ensure that contracts are completed to approved scope, budget, time and quality. Review and report on the performance of both contracts and contractors. Undertake contract management duties as appointed. Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of contract management processes and systems within the Company. Selection Criteria: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Engineering Geology. 8+ years of relevant professional experience in the field of engineering geology associated with infrastructure projects. Post Grad, Masters or PhD in a relevant Geotechnical field (Highly Desirable). Chartered Status or be working towards. Experience in Investigation and design for Bridges, dams, pipelines, buildings, ports and infrastructure. Strong analysis and reporting skills. The team also offers materials sourcing as part of our comprehensive pavement and surfacing design capabilities. Their intimate knowledge of material characteristics and behaviour as well as their experience in locating, evaluating and managing material stocks throughout the state ensure cost-effective and durable pavement solutions.
Civil Engineering The Civil Group's work can be seen throughout regional WA: Large sections of the Forrest, South West and Coalfields Highways have been built and improved based on WML designs and specialist technical advice. Shires from Kalamunda to Esperance, Coolgardie and Augusta-Margaret River rely on our Civil Group's expertise in bulk earthworks, roads and intersections, landfills, drainage and project management.
