Who We Are
The Digital, Security and Workplace Operations Division (DSWOD) is seeking an experienced ICT Infrastructure Manager to lead one half of our ICT Infrastructure team, with a focus on front-facing services and balancing technical oversight with strong team leadership to deliver high-quality, reliable, and secure ICT services to support the critical operations of the Department.
In this role, you will oversee the front-facing services, including enterprise email, endpoint management, unified communications, and associated infrastructure capabilities. Working closely with a peer EL1 responsible for back-end services to lead distinct areas while contributing to the success of the broader team, you will be a key contributor to maintaining the Department's high standard of service delivery, operational resilience, and security posture.
What You Will Do
Some of the key duties of the role include:
* Lead and manage the front-facing ICT infrastructure services team, including workforce planning, task prioritisation, and performance management
* Oversee the reliable and secure operation of enterprise email services, ensuring smooth mail flow and effective service delivery
* Manage the Department's email gateway platform (e.g. Cisco IronPort or equivalent), ensuring effective threat detection, filtering, and mail security.
* Provide strategic oversight of endpoint management capabilities (e.g. Microsoft Intune), ensuring device compliance, patching, and lifecycle management
* Provide leadership and oversight of unified communications services (e.g. Microsoft Teams)
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring technical services meet business needs and are communicated in clear, accessible language
* Collaborate with your EL1 counterpart to ensure seamless integration of front-end and back-end infrastructure services
* Drive continuous improvement, including the adoption of best practices, automation, and enhanced monitoring capabilities
* Ensure all services comply with relevant government security, compliance, and operational frameworks.

* Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a high-pressure operational environment
* Demonstrated experience managing enterprise-scale messaging and collaboration platforms, with strong capability in Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365
* Proven experience managing enterprise email gateway platforms, including configuration, maintenance, and security
* Capability in endpoint management tools and strategies, such as Microsoft Intune or similar.
Desirable Skills And Experience
* Experience in government or similarly regulated environments, with an understanding of ISM, PSPF, or Essential Eight compliance
* Experience with ITIL-aligned service delivery and operational management practices
* Exposure to automation and scripting for service management and operational efficiency
* Project management experience, particularly in ICT infrastructure projects.

Eligibility
* Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing. At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen by the completion of the recruitment process, except under exceptional circumstances.
* The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
* The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
