**Role responsibilities**
As a Payroll Officer, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- processing, checking, and maintaining accurate personnel and payroll data on the HR management information system, including salaries, superannuation, leave and time recording, commencements and separations;
- interpreting policies and providing high quality and timely advice to staff;
- participate in the development of new practices and procedures to streamline processes and develop new and innovative ways of working;
- supervising, guiding, and mentoring junior staff within the payroll team.
**Key skills and qualifications**
- A logical mind, solid numerical skills and an aptitude for payroll related tasks;
- attention to detail in the processing of high volume, complex transactions; and
- ability to adapt to and use a range of software.
For AE5 and AE6: Prior experience (commensurate with level) in a payroll related area.
**Key attributes**
- A logical mind with strong numerical skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for finance related tasks;
- strong Microsoft Office experience, specifically; Excel spreadsheet manipulation for budget management, costing, data analysis and reporting;
- experience in managing and coaching staff (at the AE6 and AEE1 level);
- well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail;
- strong interpersonal and liaison skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and
- highly effective and flexible work prioritisation skills, including the ability to maintain a forward work program, meet deadlines, and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks.

- be an Australian citizen; and
- be assessed as suitable to hold and maintain a Positive Vetting security clearance prior to commencing in the role.
