**About the Role**
An exciting and rare opportunity exists within the South Melbourne Market, Assets and Operations team to oversee and drive building facilities activities, compliance, operations processes, and procedures in accordance with laws, regulations, Council Policy, and the Local Government Act.
You will administer the delivery of effective contract and facilities management whilst providing exceptional customer service in order to contribute to the continued growth and success of the Market. You will also seek innovative solutions and approaches to complex problems demonstrating social, environmental, economic and governance best practice.
Reporting to the Head of Asset Development & Operations you will be committed to delivering a safe, inclusive, and accessible environment ensuring that the South Melbourne Market remains a popular, unique, and exciting destination now and into the future.
**Duties**:
- Develop, manage and prepare performance reports and supervise service contracts at the South Melbourne Market, such as Security, Waste Management, Cleaning, Pest Control, etc.
- Coordinate and improve efficiencies for operational elements of Market events, including but not limited to; street closures, traffic control, bump ins and outs, security personnel, cleaning requirements, event layouts, and scheduling.
- Provide advice and support the implementation of the Market's environmental sustainability strategy and contribute to achieving targets set out in the strategy.
**Skills and Experience**
- Highly developed contract management skills and experience in working with and coordinating individual contractors.
- Strong understanding of the principles governing the day to day operations of markets or similar facilities/retail spaces.
- Ability to liaise with stallholders, members of the public, contractors and other employees to gain cooperation and resolve problems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment,
- Effectively communicate both verbally and written and required to draft reports and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of sustainable practice to address various environmental concerns including energy use, reduction in waste, recycling, and general education on sustainability
- High attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualification in Contract Management or Facilities Management (or lesser formal qualifications with extensive experience).
