Overview

DBT Coordinator (Allied Health Grade 3 or 4 / Nursing Grade 4 or 5)

DBT Coordinator (Allied Health Grade 3 or 4 / Mental Health Nursing Grade 4 or 5) sought for a part-time position (0.8 EFT preferred; 0.6 EFT considered). The DBT Program (Living Well and Day Programs) – The Melbourne Clinic. Rainbow Tick accredited.

An exciting opportunity exists to join our multidisciplinary team as a Coordinator of The Melbourne Clinic Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Program. The DBT program is a six-week inpatient program designed to help people mindfully develop skills to cope with distress, manage challenging emotions, and improve relationships. The treatment approach draws from a comprehensive DBT model and includes a weekly consultation team and 1:1 individual therapy. DBT coordination will also extend through to supporting DBT developments within other inpatient Living Well Programs (e.g., autism and trauma) as well as Day Programs.

The Melbourne Clinic (TMC) has a strong Allied Health workforce of approximately 75 clinicians. The DBT Coordinator will report operationally to the Allied Health Manager and/or Director and professionally to their Discipline Chief. They will work alongside and with the other Managers and Coordinators to achieve operational goals and maintain clinical integrity, particularly across inpatient and day program. They will oversee the identification, implementation, and evaluation of the DBT program to enhance clinical outcomes and ensure quality and compliance with legislative requirements and hospital accreditation standards. They will oversee professional supports to employed clinicians such as supervision, education, relevant consultation team meetings/professional development training sessions, as well supporting the coordination of student placements.

Responsibilities

Grade 3 appointment

* Provide leadership and support to the multidisciplinary Dialectical Behaviour Therapy team
* Provide clinical supervision to other staff and students as required
* Contribute to the triage and intake of participants to the DBT program
* Facilitate groups within the DBT Program and in other specialist programs as required e.g., mindfulness, psychoeducation and group therapy sessions based on DBT principles
* Coordinate the DBT Program group timetables and manage staff scheduling appropriately and in consultation with other managers and coordinators
* Oversee the fidelity of DBT across both inpatient and day programs
* Develop and lead team-based quality projects, strengthening the capacity of DBT programs across inpatient and day programs
* Participate in the evaluation and development of DBT and other specialist programs and contribute to a culture of ongoing improvement
* Supervision of Grade 1 and 2 Mental Health Clinicians as required and supervision of students in your discipline
* Support the Allied Health Manager and Director of Allied Health as required

Grade 4 appointment

* As above for Grade 3 appointment, and
* Supervision of Grade 3 Senior Clinicians in your discipline as required and supervision of students undertaking clinical placement.
* Capacity to facilitate relevant clinical research projects, and form links with tertiary research and clinical training institutions
* Form part of the TMC clinical senior leadership team and undertake staff development activities, including training and education

Qualifications and requirements

* Appropriate qualifications in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, or Mental Health Nursing (essential)
* Masters or Doctoral post-graduate qualification (essential if a psychologist, preferred for other disciplines)
* Registration with AHPRA or (eligibility with) AASW (essential)
* If a psychologist: Endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology (preferred)
* Training or experience as a supervisor and if a psychologist: recognition as a board-approved supervisor (essential)
* Demonstrated experience or knowledge about comprehensive DBT (essential)
* Experience with group facilitation (essential)
* Experience within a private hospital mental health service (preferred)
* Intensive or Foundational DBT Training (preferred) or willingness to complete such training under mentorship (essential)
* Depending on discipline, Grade 3 appointment requires at least 4-5 years' experience (essential) and Grade 4 appointment requires at least 8-10 years' experience (essential)
* Well-developed leadership and communication skills (essential)
* Exceptional time management and communication skills (essential)
* Ability to work autonomously (essential)
* Commitment to upholding high standards of ethical practice (essential)
* Current Working With Children Check (essential)
* All staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and Influenza and provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status (essential)
