About the Role
As the Mental Health Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role within our seasoned multidisciplinary healthcare team, delivering top‑quality evidence‑based mental health services to patients. Your responsibilities include:
- Risk assessments
- Crisis intervention
- Case formulation
- Medication management
- Additional support services as needed
You will receive robust support for crisis management, risk assessment, and risk management planning from both our multidisciplinary team and the Senior Mental Health team for your region.
About the Location
Stirling Health Centre is located approximately 45 km south of Perth on Garden Island. HMAS Stirling provides operational and logistics support to the RAN ships, submarines and aircraft based in WA. The base hosts the RAN Submarine Training & Systems Centre, Training Centre West complex, Defence Communications Station Perth, and is a trials/research & support facility. Services include primary medical, underwater medicine, nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, dental and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 16:00 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements).
As The Ideal Applicant, You Will Have
- A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with AHPRA.
- Credentialing with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), or a minimum qualification of Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing.
- At least 2 years' full‑time equivalent postgraduate work experience in mental health, encompassing comprehensive assessments and delivery of evidence‑based ‘Focused Psychological Strategies’ as per the Medicare Schedule in the last 5 years.
- A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
- Familiarity with relevant State/Territory policies, national standards, and the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018‑2023 (preferred).
- Recent engagement in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities, with a minimum of 10 hours directly related to mental health, aligned with AHPRA guidelines.
