The Sydney Children's Hospital Network has an exciting opening for a Certificate III Trained Educator at The Children's Hospital at Westmead Child Care Centre in our 0-3 year old room.
You will be required to work 5 days per week from Monday to Friday on a rotating roster between 6.30 am and 6.30 pm with an accrued day of per month. Working within a professional, supportive team environment with the Director and staff on all matters important to the smooth running of a work based, 40 place Child Care Centre located in a spacious natural environment, catering to children between the ages of 0-6 years of age and a 30 place Vacation Care Service as required.

**What you'll be doing**
IN RESPECT OF THE CURRICULUM
- In consultation with the other staff assist planning, implementing and evaluating the daily program, ensuring an anti-bias approach
- Assist in planning and preparing the workplace, ie setting up planned activities
- Assist with packing away equipment in all areas as required by the weekly and daily program
IN RESPECT OF THE CHILDREN
- Treat each child with dignity and respect, taking into account any cultural, socio-economic or other differences which may arise
- Implement the program in a flexible manner that is compatible with the child's needs and interests
- Be responsible for the whole or small group of children, when required
- Liaise with parents in a friendly and positive manner
- Keep all children's records in confidence. Records are not to be discussed with other's except pertinent staff, the Director and relevant parents. The Director should be consulted regarding all such decisions
- Make appropriate, responsible decisions regarding the needs and welfare of all children
IN RESPECT OF THE EDUCATORS
- Attend all meetings as required
- Provide professional support, input and resources for other members of staff and support their professional development
- Work co-operatively as a team member
- Assist the Director in any way as requested
IN RESPECT OF FAMILIES
- Develop good rapport with parents
- Share positive information about the children with their families
- Be involved in methods of parent communication used, eg contributing to the Newsletter
- Respect families individual needs, backgrounds and maintain confidentiality
IN RESPECT OF THE SERVICE
- Participate in meetings, conferences and training courses as requested
- Develop co-operative relationship with all staff, ensuring a smoothly operating Centre and a consistently caring, secure and active environment for all children at all times
- Maintain equipment and assist with minor repairs
- Report to the Director any shortages in provisions likely to occur, through normal usage, so that re-orders can be placed before provisions are exhausted
- Attend Committee meetings as requested
- Abide by and adhere to all Centre policies
- Agree to abide by grievance procedures and work towards a positive crisis resolution
- Assist the Director in briefing and supervising voluntary helpers or visitors as required
- Maintain the required staff/child ratios at all times in line with Regulations
- Participate in staff appraisal activities
- Participate in Quality Improvement and Assessment and Rating activities
- Other duties as requested by the Director
- Certificate III in Community Services (Children’s Services)
- Current First Aid Certificate approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority
- Sound knowledge of child development with the aptitude to build a curriculum for children of various ages, interests and abilities
- Understanding of National Quality and Early Years Learning Frameworks
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication
- Ability to develop partnerships with families
- Experience working as part of a professional team
- Experience using MicroSoft office
