Kennedys is looking for a Finance Administrator to join our Finance team, based in Sydney. Ideally a university student with 2 -3 days availability during the week or an accounting/finance graduate looking for an entry level finance position.
This is an evolving role which will grow with the business and its demands. This role would suit a motivated individual who is eager to learn about the finances of a legal business and wants to be a part of a growing business.
**Team**
Kennedys Finance team support the firm globally producing timely and accurate financial and management information, reporting solutions and operational support to maintain the high standard of service offered to the firm's internal and external clients internationally.
Our finance team is made up of a Head of Finance-APAC, Finance Manager, Financial Accountant, Credit Controller, billing specialist and 3 administrators. This role interacts with both the local finance team members as well as the UK finance team from time-to-time.
The Finance Administrator will work closely with, and report into, the Finance Manager in Sydney as well as the wider, global Finance team.
**Key responsibilities**
- Support for Elite billing queries from secretarial staff and fee earners
- Client and matter reporting for secretaries and fee earners
- Running ad hoc reports as needed by the Finance Manager from Elite
- Identify deposits in the Trust Account and advise the appropriate Partner
- Processing Trust payments
- Matter closures
- Entering disbursements on matters
- Credit control support
- Completing the New Business Intake process
- Setting up client/matter rates and backdating matters, including rate changes
- Creating payors
- Creating new vendors in Elite
- Answering queries from the business
- Administrative tasks as required
**Required experience**
- Commitment to delivering a professional service to the highest standards with a strong focus on client service
- Self-motivated
- Excellent attention to detail skills
- Ability to follow instructions and be a proactive team player
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a confident telephone manner and strong writing skills
- Good level of IT skills, including Word and Excel
- Diploma/professional qualification in accountancy would be advantageous.
