About Ngwala Ngwala Willumbong is a leading provider of culturally safe and effective support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People at Ngwala is essential to maintaining culturally aligned services. About the Role We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Female Residential Rehabilitation Support Workers to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with clients affected by alcohol and drug misuse, providing essential support as they navigate their recovery journey. You will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and culturally respectful environment, while also assisting with a variety of program activities that empower clients to overcome substance misuse. Available Shifts Weekdays: Monday to Friday, 2pm to 10pm, 38 hours per week (Full time) Weekends: Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 7pm, (Permanent Part-time) Casuals (as needed basis) Note: These are set shifts according to our roster and are not negotiable. Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day care and support to clients in a residential setting. Assist with culturally appropriate program activities that promote recovery and overall well-being. Facilitate client inductions, document progress, and maintain accurate records. Transport clients to appointments, supervise medication administration, and conduct drug and alcohol screenings. Encourage the development of life skills, social engagement, and personal hygiene. Foster a safe, supportive space that respects and celebrates cultural identity. Actively engage clients in meaningful activities and healthy lifestyle choices. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support recovery goals. Skills & Experience Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal history and culture, with a commitment to the Aboriginal community. Computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook. Demonstrated understanding of AOD issues and their impacts on the Aboriginal community. Lived experience is beneficial. Patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Ability to remain calm in a conflict and effectively de-escalate situations. Good organisation and time management skills. Ability to work independently within defined guidelines and collaborate as a team member. Strong interpersonal communication and self management skills. Mandatory Requirements Certificate IV or higher in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) – must have or be willing to enrol and complete expediently after commencement, supported by Ngwala Current Victorian driver’s licence National Police Certificate (not older than 3 months) Victorian Employment Working with Children Check Must be confident driving large vehicle (Van) Mandatory requirements will be verified What We Offer SCHADS Social & Community Level 2 NFP Salary Packaging Benefits up to $15,900 An opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
