Marine Install / Fit-Out Technician – Marine Mechanic


Rockhampton, QLD

Full-Time | Monday to Friday – NO WEEKENDS

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and skilled Marine Install / Fit-Out Technician / Marine Mechanic to join our high-performing workshop team.

About the Role


This is a hands-on, varied role suited to a qualified Marine Mechanic, late-stage apprentice mechanic, or experienced marine installer who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants long-term career stability.

We are looking for a goal-driven, solutions-focused individual who takes pride in achieving results. You will have a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to think practically when faced with challenges. You take ownership of your work, continually look for ways to improve processes and outcomes, and contribute positively to a high-performing environment.

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

Boat Fit-Out & Installation

* Fitment of new outboard motors to new boat packages and repowers
* Installation and configuration of 12V electrical systems, including:

* Dual battery systems

* Battery isolators
* Smart charging systems
* Installation of a wide range of marine electronics and accessories, including:

* Chart plotters & sounders

* Trolling motors (Minn Kota, Watersnake, Garmin)
* Anchor winches
* LED lighting
* Winches and general marine accessories

Mechanical & Electrical Work

* Routine servicing of late-model two-stroke and four-stroke outboard motors across major brands:

* Mercury

* Tohatsu
* Suzuki
* Yamaha
* Honda
* Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults on boats and engines
* Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance on marine assets

Trailers

* Boat trailer maintenance
* Bearing servicing
* Setup and adjustment of new boat trailers

New Boat Package Setup & Pre Delivery

* New Boat Package (Boat, Motor & Trailer) setup & pre-delivery inspections (PDI), and accessory fitment
* All aspects of preparing a new vessel from when it arrives at the dealership to having the engine & Accessories fitted, cleaning and detailed ready for customer hand over.

Quality & Compliance

* Complete repair orders to dealership and manufacturer standards
* Ensure all work meets high-quality and safety standards
* Follow company protocols, manufacturer guidelines, and industry standards
* Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
* Adhere to checklists and quality control procedures

About You


You will ideally have:

* Formal qualifications as a Marine Mechanic / Marine Technician (preferred but not essential)
* 3rd or 4th year Marine Technician Apprentice (encouraged to apply)
* Previous experience in the boating or marine industry (preferred but not essential)
* Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
* Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
* A professional, self-motivated attitude and strong work ethic
* Ability to work both independently and within a team
* Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
* Goals focused Midset
* Must be able to problem solve and work autonomously A Soloutions driven

Tickets & Licences (preferred but not essential):

* RMDL (Recreational Boat Licence)
* Forklift licence

Eligibility Requirements:

* Must currently be living in Australia
* Must have valid Australian work rights
